DECANTER: 2015 En Primeur Review

May 19th, 2016 @ 04:13pm Jonathan Maltus En Primeur Decanter, En, Primeur, 2015

“There is an excellent Bordeaux 2015 right bank vintage sitting in estate cellars, particularly for those with vines on limestone”, says Decanter expert James Lawther MW.

LE DOME is rated as one of the top Saint Emilion wines, only behind CHATEAU CHEVAL BLANC, CHATEAU AUSONE, and CHATEAU CANON, and firmly at the same level as CHATEAU ANGELUS, CHATEAU FIGEAC, and CHATEAU PAVIE.

For the sake of tradition we present the wines in the DECANTER ‘STAR SYSTEM’

(as featured on Google).

Le Dome 2015

80% Cabernet Franc. Fresh, floral and perfumed. A long way from its original (concentrated, oaky) style. Lovely, refined, velvety texture and carefully matted tannins. Freshness and persistence on the finish. Elegance and harmony.

Vieux Château Mazerat 2015

A Jonathan Maltus (Le Dôme) wine from a parcel touching Angélus. Fine, opulent texture masks a big tannic frame. Powerful and long on the finish. A strapping wine that should age.

Les Astéries 2015

From a parcel near Fonroque. Well defined with firm but ripe tannins wrapped in supple fruit. Lovely length with the limestone terroir showing. Ageing potential.

Le Carré 2015

From a parcel near Clos Fourtet. Spicy and fragrant with fine texture and tannins, mid-palate sweetness then length on the finish. Wine-Searcher stockist search Details Cru: GC Drinking Window: 2021-2028

Château Laforge 2015

Mainly Merlot from a range of terroirs. Spicy and perfumed then bright and lifted on the palate. Clean with well-groomed tannins. Wine-Searcher stockist search Details Cru: GC Drinking Window: 2020-2027

Château Teyssier 2015

Still the biggest St-Emilion brand with 15,000 cases. 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc. Fruity and fragrant with plump, mid-palate sweetness. Tannins finely edged. Good value and very agreeable drinking.
